Swim-a-Thon Registration is Open
Get great exercise, stay cool and raise funds for Patagonia Pool

During the month of July, PRAC will be asking our pool patrons, supporters and the entire community to help us raise money to keep the pool open this fall by participating in a fun and challenging swim-a-thon. People will sign up to swim laps or complete water aerobics (WA) classes and will ask family, friends, and neighbors to donate specific amounts of money based on how many laps they swim or how many WA classes they complete through July 31.

Register as a participant at the button below.  Line up your sponsors and track their pledges.  Get in the water and rack up those laps or WA classes.

General Information:

  • The swim-a-thon will take place from July 1 through July 31st.

  • Participants will register online at the "Register Here" button below

  • Participants will download the Sponsor Tracking Log at the "Download Log Here" button below.

  • Participants can swim in any pool or other body of water. They can set a goal for miles swam, laps swam or water aerobics (WA) sessions attended.

  • Participants are responsible for tracking their own distance, laps or attendance and recording on the tracking log (downloaded from the button below). For consistency we are saying a lap is up and back in a 25-yard pool (like Patagonia's, so 50 yards per lap) and we are defining a mile as 36 laps.

  • Participants will request sponsor pledges from friends and family and record the information on the tracking log including:

    • Sponsor Full Name

    • Sponsor Email

    • Sponsor Phone Number

    • Pledge per Lap, Distance or WA attendance- this is where you record how much your sponsor has agreed to donate per lap/distance/WA attendance

    • Total Pledge – this is the total sum of money pledged by the sponsor if the participant reaches their total goal

    • Amount Paid – record the actual value of sponsorship funds paid

    • Payment Date – record the date the payment was made (we are asking full payment by Aug 5th)

    • Payment Type – enter the way the payment was made (via cash, check, or QR code which will direct the sponsor to the AZGives PRAC donation site where there are several ways to pay including credit card, PayPal and Venmo)

Use the "Register Here" button below to become a Swim-a-Thon participant.  Download the sponsor tracking log sheet at the button

If your child is registered for Swim Lessons, see this information

Swim lessons started Monday, July 6th and will run for one 2-week session. Each child will get 10 lessons over this time. We adjusted the times for swim lessons to see if we can miss the weather in the afternoon. see your child's adjusted time slot below based on your original assigned slots. These times start as for Thursday, July 9th.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday - lessons start at 12:00 PM

Tues/Thursdays - lessons start at 10:00

If your child has swim goggles, they are encouraged to bring them. Also bring a towel.

We are taking donations to cover the cost of the lessons, with an ask of a minimum of $10 per child (for all 10 sessions, that’s $1 a day!). But we also want to ensure that EVERY child can take these lessons so if a donation is not something a family can do at this time, we will make sure the kids get in the water anyway! We can accept cash or check.

Please note that if classes get canceled due to weather,

we will have a make-up session on a Saturday morning. Depending on volume and skill level of registered kids we may adjust the time slots.

Sponsorship Opportunities to Fund the Pool
See how your dollars can fund key functions at the pool!

The Patagonia Regional Aquatics Center needs your help to keep the Patagonia Pool open this summer and fall for use by the patrons in eastern Santa Cruz County.  PRAC is fully responsible for operating this community facility including lifeguard payroll, chemicals, and maintenance. We will not be able to continue operating this vital facility without an infusion of money and volunteers. In peak summer season, it costs about $1,000 to operate the pool each day and that figure would be higher if it weren’t for our amazing volunteers who open and close the pool, as well as clean it and keep the chemicals balanced.

Your sponsorship of key functions can help keep the pool open.

Please consider donating the following:

$50 pays to heat the pool for one day

$100 pays a swim instructor for two hours

$250 pays for chemicals for a week

$500 pays for teen lifeguards for one week

$1000 pays for one day of pool operations

$2500 pays for a month of spring or fall Water Aerobics

Your gift, in any amount helps provide summer jobs for teens and keeps admission free for kids age 12 and under.

Note: All amounts are approximate based on 2026 budgeted values.

Unrestricted donations will be used where needed.
